Description: “Hear from the Executive Director of the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights, Mari Margil! This movement aims to protect the rights of nature to exist, flourish, and regenerate.

Executive Director of the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights, Mari Margil, will present on the rights of nature, including her work on Ecuador's Constitution and on policies around the world. Today's environmental laws treat nature as existing for human use, promoting the exploitation of nature over its protection, which has led to climate change and other environmental crises. The rights of nature movement is working to change humankind's relationship with the natural world - recognizing that we are dependent on and part of nature - and protecting the rights of nature to exist, flourish, and regenerate.
